Chiropractic Adjustment

When people have pain in their muscles and joints many turn to a chiropractor in order to get relief from an adjustment. These adjustments may be either manual, or they may also be treated with the help of s small tool called an activator.  At Anew Chiropractic in  Joliet, IL we use both manual and activator methods.

Choosing a Chiropractic Method

When you come into Anew Chiropractic, we get started on our assessment of your injuries as well as your health history in order to best serve you. If you have been to a chiropractor before, you may have some insight into what method has worked on your injuries in the past. If not, that's okay too. Since chiropractic is a hands on method of pain relief that uses no drugs or surgery, it relies on your cooperation in the healing process, which may mean going to multiple appointments and doing prescribed exercises to help alleviate nerve and other pain,  strengthen muscles and better support joints.

Manual Adjustments

Manual adjustment uses primarily the hands in order to treat pain and misalignments or subluxations. By manipulating vertebrae using the hands only our chiropractor in Joliet, IL aims to help with joint pressure, release gasses that may be irritating the system, including oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, and help with a range of motion, improving overall functioning.

Activator Method

The Activator method works with a spring-loaded instrument that combines its ability to affect a specific spot with precision and speed. It works so quickly that muscles do not have time to tense up in reaction. Is an alternative method to a traditional hands only chiropractic method that uses a small hand held the external tool to aid in both diagnostics and adjustments in order to relieve various types of pain, including back pain, neck pain and various types of headaches. The activator instrument is used as an alternative to a high velocity low altitude (HVLA) thrust, and is one of the most common chiropractic methods in use both manual and gentle activator methods in treating our patients, depending on what the patient is most comfortable with and what might work the best for your specific ailment.
