Physical therapy is one example of a valuable and non-invasive service, and if you think it may be able to help you with an injury or illness, we invite you to keep reading.

What Is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy (PT) involves diagnosis and treatment of disease, illness, and injury using a combination of physical services which are fully customized to each individual patient. PT can be used to minimize or even preclude the use of prescription pain medications, surgery, and other invasive procedures, or be used in conjunction with these traditional medicine techniques as a way to maximize healing.

Services Provided & Conditions Treated by a Doctor of Physical Therapy

Physical therapists are highly trained in the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a wide variety of conditions affecting almost every system in the body (musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, integumentary, and so on). Some of the most common conditions seen in our Joliet chiropractic and rehabilitation clinic include fibromyalgia, scoliosis, arthritis, stroke, and acute or chronic injuries related to sports, work, and auto accidents.

Physical therapists are skilled in both manual therapy techniques and patient-driven techniques that promote healing reduced inflammation and pain, and improved strength, balance, motor control, and endurance. These services, including joint mobilizations, massage, therapeutic exercises, and modalities such as heat, ice, and electrical stimulation, are completely non-invasive and come with a minimal risk of side effects (far safer than excessive use of pain medication!).

Of course, we fully recognize that traditional and modern medicine certainly has its role.  Fortunately, physical therapy (as well as chiropractic care) is an excellent adjunct service that can be provided before, during, or even after the delivery of "traditional" medicine as a way to accelerate healing and reduce complications and side effects. Joint replacements are a prime example of this, with the physical therapist being an essential professional in the patient's recovery and rehabilitation phase.

So no matter what condition you're facing or how you've been trying to seek to heal in the past, consider physical therapy. It could be the missing piece of the puzzle!

Testimonials

  • I was very impressed with the chiropractic care I received from Dr. Anderson. I had received chiropractic in the past for my neck pain, but not to this level of care. After only a few sessions, my symptoms began to disappear, especially my neck pain, and I know I would not have been able to perform to my everyday work functions without the treatment I received.

  • I have benefitted tremendously from the chiropractic care I received from Dr. Anderson. Not only has the adjustments helped alleviate my stiffness and aches, but it has helped me have more energy and just feel more balanced over all. A few months ago, I was able to resume a favorite hobby of mine: golf. Due to my previous pain, I never thought that’d be possible.

  • Dr. Anderson has allowed me to be headache free for quite some time now. I used to have daily nagging headaches that often would turn into a migraine leaving me unable to function. For the longest time, I thought I could just keep taking medication to have the pain subside.
